Breena Bard
Breena Bard is an award-winning cartoonist who writes for kids and kids at heart. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Breena moved to Portland, Oregon in the late ‘aughts to chase her dream of writing and illustrating graphic novels. Her middle grade graphic novels include Wildfire (Little, Brown Ink, 2023) and Oregon Book Award-winner Trespassers (Scholastic/Graphix, 2020). She has also self-published a number of comics, including Claudia Claws (2025) Hey Baby (2016) a comic memoir about the birth of her kids, and Picket Line (2011) her Xeric Award-winning debut about environmental protests in the Redwoods. She is currently working on her next graphic novel. Breena Bard lives in Portland with her husband Zech, and their two kids. When she’s not writing or drawing, Breena enjoys eating pizza, watching movies, making music, and exploring outdoors with her kids.
