Jimmy Gownley
Jimmy Gownley is a New York Times best-selling cartoonist, and creator of the award winning and trendsetting Amelia Rules! series of graphic novels. He has been nominated for 14 Eisner awards and six Harvey Awards. His memoir, The Dumbest Idea Ever!, won the Children’s Choice Award for Book of the year.
In addition to his creator owned work, Gownley is a successful freelance writer; crafting many comics, graphic novels, and hybrid books for such global icons as: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Tangled, Zootopia and more. Gownley’s work has been translated into ten languages, and he has spoken to countless children through his dynamic school presentations. He has been a guest lecturer at The Center for Cartoon Studies, The Cartoon Art Museum, and Artist in Residence at the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center. Outside of the comics world, Gownley had a decade long career in television news, where he was an Emmy nominated art director. He is also an entrepreneur and publisher, who co-founded the reading advocacy group Kids Love Comics.
Gownley also hosts two podcasts; his own Jimmy Gownley’s Dumb Ideas, and the internationally charting Unpacking Peanuts.
